Sir Algernon Borthwick cr. K.B. 1880. cr. Bt. 1887. 1st Baron
Glenesk cr.1895. Born Cambridge 27th December 1830 - died 24th November 1908. Educated at King's College School. Contested Evesham 1880. M.P. for South Kensington 1885 - 1895. He was a Conservative journalist, Vice-Grand Master, Trustee and in both 1891 and 1894 Chancellor of the Primrose League and the owner of the Morning Post (founded in 1772, and which merged with The Daily Telegraph in 1937).
