Lord Mowbray was Chancellor of the Primrose League from 1975 to 1983, but so far (Jan 2005) I have been unable to locate any evidence as to the part he played in the Primrose League in more recent times, although it must have been of some importance if he was able to hand over a cheque for £70,000 on the disbandment of the Primrose League, to the leader of the Conservative Party.
In 1960 'The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem' was reintroduced into England after nearly 450 years and Lord Mowbray, Segrave, and Stourton, a direct descendant of the original crusader knight Sir Roger de Mowbray, was appointed Grand Prior of England and Wales by the Grand Master.
